About the Artist Amanda Hyde

"SLIPWAY AT NEWTON FERRERS" 2005
an original painting, acrylic on block canvas

Amanda Hyde lives and works in Torquay, Devon. Prior to becoming a mature student at the University of Plymouth, she was employed as a display artist where she produced many national award winning window and exhibition displays. After completing a degree in law she chose to work with children and is now a part time primary school teacher.  With no formal training in art, Amanda likes to break the rules which creates that unique look.

 Of her work she says:

I love to work with colour and I endeavour to capture images of the local area which are vibrant, uninhibited and unique. My preferred medium is acrylic which I believe possesses a depth of colour and texture which compliments my individual style.

Already Amanda is in demand from galleries and what was a part time occupation is rapidly becoming full time, as more of her paintings are being sold.
